The PRI Enterprises Transition Program plays a critical role in fulfilling this mission by preparing individuals for successful reentry into the workforce and their communities. Through a combination of structured planning, employment readiness and support services, the program helps ease the transition from incarceration to independent living.
The program includes both pre-release preparation and post-release support, forming a comprehensive approach to long-term success.
In the months leading up to release, PRI Enterprises provides structured transition planning designed to equip participants with the tools and resources needed for reentry.
Within 120 days of an anticipated release date, participants complete an exit interview. This process includes:
Each participant is assigned a Transition Specialist who provides guidance and support throughout the process. Transition Specialists work directly with participants prior to release to assess needs, identify potential challenges and develop customized reentry plans.
Obtaining essential identification is a key component of pre-release preparation. Participants are encouraged to secure documents such as a birth certificate and Social Security card as early as possible. These documents are necessary for employment and access to community services. A birth certificate is also required to obtain a Florida identification card, and individuals are encouraged to begin this process at least six months prior to release.
Following release, the PRI Enterprises Transition Program provides continued support focused on employment and stability. Services are available to individuals who leave PRI industries in good standing, with priority given to first-time participants with at least six months of program involvement.
The post-release process is structured in four key phases:
Participants are expected to establish contact with the program upon returning to their communities. During this stage, Transition Specialists provide guidance and conduct assessments to determine eligibility for services.
Support may include referrals for temporary housing, transportation and other community-based resources. PRI Enterprises maintains partnerships with a network of service providers to help address individual needs during this critical transition period.
Participants work with Transition Specialists to develop a strategic job search plan based on their skills, experience and career interests. Pre-employment requirements, such as valid identification, are addressed to ensure readiness for hiring.
Participants are also encouraged to present documentation of vocational training and certifications when applying for employment opportunities.
PRI Enterprises assists participants in connecting with employment opportunities aligned with their training and experience. Emphasis is placed on maintaining scheduled interviews and actively engaging in the hiring process.
Ongoing support continues after employment is secured. The Mission Programs Department maintains contact with participants for at least one year, providing encouragement and identifying additional support needs to promote long-term stability and success.
